As an owner of a NEEL 43 trimaran, one of our challenges is finding haulout locations that can accommodate a boat with a 24′ 7″ beam. There were several lists of wide beam haulout locations floating around the internet, but they were static and depended on one person updating them, which reduced their long-term viability. So, as a bit of a nerd passion project, Emma created a way for their locations to appear on a Google map, filterable by beam size, and had their relevant data available in a pop-up when you click on each location.
We are hopeful the sailing community will come together to ensure the data is up-to-date and provides as much detail as possible to assist in navigation and planning – that’s where you come in! If you notice locations that are missing or need updating, please use the forms at the bottom of the page to help us all out. This is a work in progress, and we’ll keep plugging away to make it more useful and user-friendly. Here’s to fair winds, following seas, and much more sailing than hauling out!
